THE STORY OF FORT WALLA WALLA FROM FUR TRADE POST TO MILITARY ESTABLISHMENT.

A new book on the history of Fort Walla Walla features images of rare artifacts and many archival photos including the one at right of Indian soldiers wearing standard dress uniforms of the late 1880s to early 1890s. Through rich illustrations and engaging text, An Illustrated History of Fort Walla Walla tells the story of early fur trade forts and subsequent US military posts of the same name. The 64-page book also includes the full text of  Captain F. H. Pope’s 1908 history of the Fort. Produced by the Museum, the book received the 2012 Washington Museum Association Award of Publication Excellence.
