Laura Schulz, Collections Manager at Fort Walla Walla Museum, shares her many years of experience working with objects and artifacts in the Museum collection. In her talk, What Makes a Great Exhibit, Schulz will share tips that Museum staff have learned over the years for exhibit success, as well as some things to avoid. Many volunteers are excited to participate in the exhibit installation process, but the majority of the work takes place in the initial planning and research stages--which may start years ahead of the proposed exhibit opening date. Each new artifact donated to the Museum presents challenges and possibilities from the initial cataloging process to its final inclusion in an exhibit. The program will include a number of the Fort Walla Walla Museum postcard collection images as an example of creating an exhibit.

Museum After Hours is a free monthly lecture series that is open to the public. Please note that due to the Museum's winter hours, the presentation will begin at 4 pm.
