Local author Bob Freeman will be joining us to speak about his book “Washington State Penitentiary — A Short Conversational History of the First Century" to be followed by a book signing.
Bob Freeman started at the prison in 1948 as a psychologist. Freeman’s 45-page illustrated narrative covers the first century of the penitentiary from its inception in 1886-1887 up to the end of the “Concrete Mama” era in 1981.
Copies of “Washington State Penitentiary — A Short Conversational History of the First Century” are available at the museum gift shop.
