"Caw Pawa Laakni, They Are Not Forgotten"

Bobbie Conner and Jennifer Karson Engum discuss “Caw Pawa Laakni, They Are Not Forgotten,” an ethnogeographic atlas of American Indian place names. This Tamástslikt Cultural Institute project offers descriptions of Sahaptian place names of the Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla Native communities. It represents an invaluable source of living cultural information, both for those who were there and those who came, about these first peoples of the mid-Columbia River Plateau in parts of Washington and Oregon.
