Museum After Hours "The Steptoe & Wright Campaign: An American Dunkirk"

Seasoned reenactor Lyle Gleason comes in the role of 1st Sgt. Edward Ball of the 1st U.S. Dragoons , a military officer who was in the 1858 Steptoe Campaign, a battle of the Eastern Washington Indian Wars. In character, Gleason will tell of the harrowing clash, the Battle of Pine Creek, otherwise known as the Battle of Tohotonimme, that occurred not far from Walla Walla, near today’s Rosalia. He escaped death and capture but had to make his way back over four days to Fort Walla Walla without provisions or horse. He and other American military personnel were posted at Fort Walla Walla after fighting in the Mexican and Indian wars in the southern territories..

Admission is free to Museum After Hours, in the Grand Hall at Fort Walla Walla Museum.
